Whew!

It has been a fun last few days around here and I feel like a week has flown by in a day since we've been so busy! But thanks to a nice lonnnnnng wait at the DMV this morning with a restless toddler in tow, what was only an hour and a half (only, ha) felt like a week, so I guess the time-lag is all back in balance.

Anyway.

I already mentioned that my birthday was on Wednesday. I felt like the festivities continued on into the weekend though, because Friday we had friends over for dinner and Saturday a few of my sweet loved ones (Hi Ashley, Katie, and Mom!) threw me a baby shower. I felt kind of uncomfortable having a shower this time around since it was only a year and a half ago since Harrison's and we are already pretty stocked up on all things baby-related, but they insisted that Miss H deserved one as well. And I have to say that it turned out so beautiful! They kept it small and hosted it at a local tea room, and it was perfect.

The set up. The decorations were all multi-functional: the pom-poms on the table are actually tutus and the flowers are hair bows that Katie made!

Yet another ah-mazing beauty of a cake that my SIL Tracye made. Her talent makes me sick is inspiring! And yes, it was as tasty as it was gorgeous.

The scrumptious lunch (and yes, that is me stuffing my face. Pretty flattering, right? Ha!)
I truly had such a great time and was beyond touched by all of the sweet gifts from everybody. I am so blessed to have such loving friends and family. And I have to say that girly stuff is so FUN. I can't get enough of all of the pink and ruffles and sweetness!

It won't be long before it's Katie's turn to be showered with gifts and love and I can't wait! It's been so much fun sharing the experience of pregnancy with my bestie and I'm so glad that our kids will grow up together. Here's a belly shot of the two of us:

6 weeks apart (although I feel like a whale compared to her cute little bump!)
While we were having some fun girly time at the tea room Rick had a few guy friends over at the house to watch sports and grill burgers and do other manly things. I think we crashed their party when we got home and couldn't wait another second to start going through all of the fun loot (which I'll share pictures of when I get the nursery completely finished). And of course we had to use Harrison as a model for some of it. ;)

Why are you doing this to me?!?!

I just want to watch basketball!

Mom, you're dead to me.

It's funny because he really is ALL boy! I don't know how he knew that he isn't supposed to like tutus and hair bows, but he very much didn't. Hopefully my little girl won't feel the same way because I can't wait to put her in all the fun girly stuff!

My MIL stayed for the weekend and so Saturday night she kept Harrison so we could go out to dinner with friends. And let me tell you, I savored every baby-free restaurant moment! I love my son, but I so do not love going out to eat with him. And because we're wild and crazy, before heading home we decided to stop for some milkshakes. You know, because the birthday dessert at the restaurant just didn't cut it.  :)

Sunday our church had an outdoor service at the park and a picnic afterward. It was a great turnout and a lot of fun, and the message was exactly what I needed to hear. It was about worry and anxiety vs. peace and how it's impossible to put our trust in both self and heaven. When we're feeling anxious it's usually because we're not looking up to our Father and trusting that He will provide exactly what we need. Peace is found in knowing that God is in control and worry stems directly from our desire to be in control (and realizing that we're not). Amen to that!  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Mom forgot my bib, but no worries. I'm a super clean eater.

The rest of the day was filled with fun at the park, a nice nap (while my MIL cleaned my house!!!), and ended with dinner at Saltgrass with the fam to celebrate my brother's birthday. He turns 24 today. Happy birthday, Bubba!

Glad you had a great week!

The church service looked really great. That would be a really cool thing to do in the spring.
