A Joyous Day!!!

672.

Know what that number represents?

Well, let me tell you. 672 is the number of times I have thrown up over the last 4 months. No, I didn't keep track of the exact number, but based on a rough calculation I'm in the ballpark.

But today? Today was joyous. Today I got a break. Today is the first vomit-free day for me in a lonnnnng time. I've been praying for this day for months! I still feel completely nauseated, but hey! I didn't puke! YAY!!!!

I was really hesitant to post this, b/c last time I came close to a vomit-free day I jinxed myself by celebrating a little too early with a overly-daring bowl of ice cream. Which I promptly threw up. But it's minutes away from tomorrow and I think I'm safe! So screw you, best friend, we are on a break! Even if only for one day.

Today was joyous, indeed.

Baby Boy(d)

That's right, everyone. Peanut has a penis!!!!!!!

Rick and I visited the Ultrasound Nazi today for the anatomy ultrasound. I really didn't have any type of maternal intuition about the sex of the baby, but when forced to guess I was leaning towards it being a girl. That's been the pattern on my side of the family: girl first, then boy. And Rick's brother and SIL had a girl first as well. So needless to say, Rick had pretty much resigned to the fact that his life was about to be bombarded with pink and purple and Barbies and princesses when the tech pointed to the screen with her cursor and said:

"It is undeniably a boy!*"

It was music to Rick's ears, and honestly, mine as well. I really didn't have a preference one way or the other. Rick's chest puffed out and he grinned ear to ear, especially since he took the word "undeniably" as a huge compliment to his manhood. Ha!

We think everything looks healthy, although the Ultrasound Nazi never disclosed such information as this would deviate from her cold and unfriendly disposition. We should get back the conclusive results soon and until then we will assume that no news is good news.

And now it's time to start picking out names!

*I added the exclamation point for emphasis. Ultrasound Nazi didn't dare have excitement in her voice, but Rick and I more than made up for her lack of enthusiasm. We are thrilled!
