New set of wheels.

I had a goal of finishing the nursery and posting pictures and also of putting up a 16-month post about Harrison, but I feel like the walking dead (minus the walking part as I've pretty much been parked on the couch for the majority of the weekend). I started off with a scratchy throat last week and it has snowballed into a full blown respiratory infection -- not that I've been to the doctor for an official diagnosis but seeing how I've gotten this junk about 43 times this year I've got a hunch that's what it is. Anyway, to make a long story short slightly less long, I'm still not quite done with her room but we are getting very close. Also, my baby boy turned 16 months yesterday and babycenter.com wasted no time informing me via my inbox that he has long left his babyhood behind. I don't understand why they won't just let me live in denial a little while longer!

So since I'm feeling so lousy I'll just finish the post I started last week about Harrison's car party instead. The PeeWee School I've been working at and he's been going to had their spring picnic on Thursday and it was a car theme. All the kids brought their homemade cars and had races and other stations set up and it was a lot of fun!

There was a silent auction where each class sold a couple of pieces of artwork with the proceeds going to a scholarship program. Rick bid on Harrison's class' canvas but sadly he didn't win...but also very fortunate that he didn't win considering he bid on the wrong Harrison's class. Ha!

I couldn't believe how fancy some of the cars were. Some parents went wayyy out and were so creative. One little girl in the class I've been subbing in had a glammed out pink Rolls-Royce! Rick was a little embarrassed for Harrison since he waited until the night before to make his (not my husband) and he said he's already begun drawing up plans for next year's. Which is a good thing because toddlers care very much about these things. :)

Sweet Ashley - she belongs to some dear friends of ours

Christian and Thomas - how cute is he?!

Harrison wasn't too fond of his car at first.

But then he slowly started to warm up to it.

And he especially loved that his steering wheel actually turned!

He had a ball going through the car wash.

And had fun filling up his tank (must be nice to be blissfully oblivious to gas prices, right?).

And then he took his newly discovered freedom in the form of 4 wheels to the "highway".

See ya!

He actually "drove" it around for a full 30 seconds before causing a rollover accident, climbing out of his mangled car, and promptly fleeing the scene of the crime without even a single look back. Ha!
