Crafts, pumpkins, & more

This has been one of those weekends where I felt productive. Lately those weekends are few and far between...especially since not only is life kind of hectic but also because I have a tendency to...ahem...procrastinate. Then my projects that I start off wanting to do become more like burdens and I end up as a grouchy stressball when I feel like I'm running out of time. It feels good to be (momentarily) ahead of the game!

I realized that Harrison's birthday is 6 weeks away and I've been doing a little party planning. I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. Sure, life before it was a little more boring and less creative but boy was it simpler. Ha! We are doing a camping theme for his party and instead of just going the easy route and ordering invitations I decided I wanted to make them. I got a wild hair and started working on them last night...a whole 3 weeks early. Wild, I tell you. Wild!

I also made the kids' Halloween costumes. They are going to be Pebbles and Bamm Bamm this year. I was a little worried on how they were going to turn out since I don't have anything close to a pattern, but I have to say that they actually look pretty good, all things considered! I didn't take a picture so you'll have to wait until Halloween to see the finished product.

And? I also made them matching pumpkin shirts. I know! 3 craft projects in one weekend. I'm on a freakin' roll. Not only is it fun to get my craft on but it's also friendly to the wallet. The supplies for the birthday invitations cost a whopping $3.25. Fabric for both costumes was $6. And the total for both shirts was under $10. Not too shabby if you ask me!

Now for the pumpkin patch pics:

Say pumpkins!

And she's off.

In heaven.

Right before she tried to take a bite of it

Kissing her owie...such a good big brother

h is for handsome

loves her daddy

Why would I sit still for a picture when there's exploring to do??

We shuffled the car seats around in my car so I could pick up my friend's kids from school and Harper got to ride forward facing for the first time. She also got to ride next to her brother for the first time. For the first 30 seconds it was really cute and they had a lot of fun. Harrison asked me to turn on some music and they both got right to performing. Harper is always the drummer and Harrison is the guitar player.

And then personal space got invaded....

And it all went south.

This is the same reason the stroller isn't practical these days...it's just too tempting not to pester your sister/brother.

But then we got home later that night from small group and this is what I turned around and saw:

Being all sweet. Holding hands. Almost made me consider leaving them next to each other for good. Not really. That's a lie.  :)

You may have noticed Harper sporting a bandaid on her forehead in a lot of our recent pictures. A few weeks ago I noticed a small red growth and took her to the doctor. Turns out she has a strawberry hemangioma. It's completely harmless and will eventually go away on its own, but she keeps scratching it and making it bleed. And now she's figured out how to get the bandaid off so I'm not sure what to do. Hopefully it will make a quick departure.

She also chipped her top front tooth. My heart sank when I saw it...I know it's just a baby tooth but come on! She's only had it for a couple of months and she'll have it for another 6 years. Poor girl just can't catch a break.

You may have also noticed in a few recent pictures that she has a pacifier. Unlike her brother she has had zero interest in binkies. But she found one recently in an old diaper bag in her closet and it has become her fast friend. And I'm a HUGE sucker. I don't let her sleep with it so I'm hopefully not playing with fire too badly. But I love how it makes her seem more like a baby. I know, I know. She's not a baby and I'm totally regressing, but like I said....SUCKER.

What doesn't make her seem like a baby? These adorable overalls. I could seriously die of the cuteness.

So many comments to make...
I love the crafty invitation. And what a great idea for a party! We are going to have Eli's party on Dec. 9 (a Sunday), and I have no idea yet what we'll do. I'm contemplating three ideas: (1) going off-site to some place like Little Gym, (2) renting a bounce house or (3) having a regular party but asking the local firestation to bring a fire truck by our house.

The pumpkin shirts are TOO cute! And I love Harper's overall outfit. The picture of him kissing her owie is just too sweet for words.

And the carseat pictures made me LOL... until I saw them holding hands at then end (and then I was all like, "Awwww!").
