Golden Birthday

Since Harper is officially 3 1/2 today I guess I should wrap up her birthday post that I started back in May. At least I got it done within the same year?

Harper had her 3 year well visit today so I thought it would be a good time to post her stats.

You are growing, Harper!

She weighs 28 lbs (45th percentile) and is 36 3/4 inches tall (70th percentile).

(And at 3 1/2, she's up to 32 lbs and 38 inches tall.)

Clothing sizes have gotten tricky. She wears a 3T in tops and dresses but she is a skinny minnie and shorts and pants are a different story. I actually bought her size 12 month bermuda shorts and they fit her like regular shorts. She still squeezes into her 18 month swim suits. We stick mostly to dresses with capri leggings (i.e. her 12 month leggings that now fit like capris) or t shirts with skirts. I'm going to have to get creative in the fall and add ruffles to the bottoms of her jeans so they won't fit her like highwaters.

She wears a size 7-8 in shoes.

I started a tradition of interviewing the kids on their birthdays beginning at age 3. Here are Harper's answers:

What was the best part about your birthday? eating coookies
What was your favorite birthday present? bubble machine. It's shaped like a carriage!
What does Daddy do for his job: I don't know. Work at Kirby Machine.
What does Mommy do for her job: Take me to the park
What is something Daddy says to you a lot? I want shark kisses
What is something Mommy says to you a lot? I love to kiss you
What is something you say to us a lot? I don't know, Momma. Cupcakes! 
What is something that you like to do most with Mommy? Hugging
What is something that you like to do most with Daddy? Hugging Dadda
What is something that you are really good at? Playing games. Matching the cards. 
What do you what to be when you grow up? A momma! 
What is something that makes you happy? Drinking juice. And I love hugging. That will make me happy.
What is something that makes you sad? Drinking water.
What is something that makes you laugh? Myself. (laughs)
What do you think about before you fall asleep? I think about drinking a little milk. And my birthday parties! Cupcakes and marshmallows.

What else sticks out?

*You talk in full paragraphs but still have a hard time pronouncing some of your syllables. You can't make the "s" sound at the beginning of words. You usually substitute it with a "n" or sometimes a "ch". I'm going to miss this about you when grow out of it. A few of my favorite Harper words:

nomething = something
nunglasses =  sunglasses
nuggle = snuggle
nanta = santa
no mam = snow man
nimanem = cinnamon
wootsies = feet
pockporn = popcorn 

 

*Some of your favorite phrases include:
"I already know that"  and, "I know, but..." You definitely have a little bit of sass mixed in with your sweet! You also say "I'm sorry, Momma. Sorry, sorry." anytime you are caught in the act...or even when you just think you might get in trouble. You have tattled on yourself many times with this phrase.

*You and your dad have a special thing where you give each other shark kisses every day. You grab his face and pretend to chomp it and make growling sound effects because according to you, sharks growl. 

*You are such a girly girl. I love it. I was not a girly girl at all growing up but it's so much fun for me to see you playing dress up constantly, getting super excited over painted fingernails, and being the best mommy to your baby dolls ever.

 

*You LOVE princesses. Any time you make a wish on a star or throw a penny into a fountain you quietly wish to be a princess. You know the names of all of the Disney princesses, even the ones from movies you haven't seen yet. 

*Every night when I tuck you in you beg me to nuggle with you and talk about your birthday parties. You have them planned out for years and get so excited telling me all about the details. They almost always include decorations and princess cupcakes in shades of pink and purple.

*You are generally very easygoing. You are definitely a girl with an opinion but we don't have very many behavior problems with you at all. And when we do, you are usually very quick to reset and change your attitude after a short time-out and conversation. 

*Your brother is your favorite person on the planet. You adore him and play so well with him. And he adores you...especially because you usually go along with whatever he wants :)
